My car has 100,000 miles on it, how long will it last?

If you do the regular maintenance on your car and take care of it by keeping it clean, keep the filters changed as the manufacture recommends, a car today can easily go 200,000 miles and more. Many times depending on how hard and where you drive you may need to perform maintenance more often. Your service center can keep you informed about this.  We even have a few customers with 300,000 miles on the cars. But it works both ways if you want to destroy a car, neglect the maintenance and many times it will fall apart around you. This is what a neglected oil filter looks like.

Why is my car shaking at 65 m.p.h?

Most of the time this will be a balance issue. many times people confuse this condition with a bad wheel alignment, but alignment won’t cause a shake. Alignment has to do with how the tires are wearing or if the car is pulling to one side or the other. Balance on the other hand has everything to do with a shake, the other thing we have to check is that the tire is not out of round enough to cause a shake.

Why is my cars battery dead after it sits for 2 or 3 days?

Most of the time we find that an interior light was left on by accident or a door was not closed completely, something simple like that. There can also be bigger problems like a bad alternator that is causing a drain on the battery, it can even be a bad battery that just can’t hold a charge any longer. If you have checked the simple things and found no lights on  you will need to go to your service center to have this checked.

Why do my tires keep slowly loosing air pressure?

This is a normal, if not frustrating thing. Air will slowly seep out of the tires and will have to be topped off once a month to keep them in the optimum pressure range to get the best mileage and performance. One way to help with this is to have your tires filled with nitrogen, most shops can do this for you today. The nitrogen molecule is larger than the air molecule so it stays in the tire longer, it will still need to be topped off just not as often.

Why won’t my A/C compressor turn on in my car?

There are a number of reasons for this, it may be the compressor is bad, this is the least likely problem, it may be the clutch or clutch relay, it may be that the a/c system is low on freon. there is a safety switch that won’t let the compressor run if the freon is low. You will need to get to your service center so they can diagnose the problem and get you an estimate for the repair.

Is the proper torque on my wheels really important?

Quick answer, yes over tightening of the lug nuts can cause the threads to be pulled or distorted everything will be fine until the next guy tries to remove them. Many times the threads will be so badly damaged that the nut will damage the thread on the stud and the shop will have to come to you to tell you we need to replace a wheel stud, you get mad at them when really it was the last person that messed things up. Wheels should always be tightened with a torque tool or a torque wrench.
