Why is my car hard to start right after I fill up with gas?

Many times this is caused by a failure in the emissions system of your car. As you are filling up, the fuel vapor should be directed to a canister if there is a problem in the system all that fuel vapor and some times fuel is pushed into the engine this will flood the engine and make it very hard to start.
