Yes, in the past we never changed the fluid and it seemed to work fine in reality it did not work as well as it could have but we got away with it. Today’s cars have anti lock brake systems that use an electronically controlled solenoid system to control our braking as contaminates get in the fluid they attack this system and can cause very expensive repairs, it’s much less expensive to change the fluid and know that brake system is working as it should

Most likely you have a battery beginning to fail, when the starter can’t get enough voltage to crank the engine it many times will make that clicking sound you heard. You should get to your service center as soon as you can to get it checked and tested, once it gives you that warning it will leave you stranded soon.

Squeaks and sounds can sometimes be hard to find, but one of the most common things we find with this complaint is a bad u-joint or universal joint in the drive shaft. the only time you hear this is at slow speed and many times it will only happen when backing up. Any odd noises should always be checked but in particular this one can leave you stranded if it breaks. Have your service center take a look.

When the air bag warning light is on the air bag system is turned off and you are no longer protected by it, in the event of a crash the system will not work. This light can come on for many reasons related to the air bag itself or the seat belt system. This is a fantastic safety system and you should get it repaired a.s.a.p. There is alot of talk today about the dangers of this system but many lives have been saved by it.

Many of these things were put into our cars to make things safer but I’m not so sure it’s working. It seems for me anyway I am more distracted than ever, what do you think? They put this nice big screen in the center of the dash and I want to look at it which takes my eyes off the road, I can see the weather, the traffic, or my latest song list, I think I need to pay more attention to my driving, again what do you think?

In one of my pass posts I pointed out, be sure you are checking the spare many cars have a monitor in the spare as well. But if your car is 7 years old or older you may have a tire monitor failure. the monitor has a battery built inside that cannot be replaced if it has gone bad you will need to replace the monitor to repair the system.

Things have happened this week that have made me think, it seems I’m always working hard to keep the business going and making everyone happy, but this week has been a bit different. A friend passed away, two others have cancer, one is in really bad shape, a good friends family reunion was cut short by a virus, not only cut short but canceled at he last minute, on a happy note one of our grand daughters had a birthday shes so great. I know you all know this but a reminder trust God seek his wisdom, tell the people you love that you love them give them a hug and if your far away give them a call to let them know your thinking about them. A bit different kind of post today, I hope it finds you well. Enjoy the people you care about this weekend. We will get back to car stuff next week. Ken

First you should check your oil level if you don’t know how ask a friend to help or check in your owner’s manual for the location of the dip stick, but you should not drive with the light on. If you have to, have your car towed to your service center to get checked. There could be an oil pump problem or it may be as simple as a faulty gauge or warning light. But you can do major engine damage if you drive with no oil pressure so this needs to be checked.

Yes it is always a good idea to have the alignment done when you get new tires. With the cost of tires today you want them to last as long as they can. If the alignment is not correct you will get abnormal tire ware and less tire life. It’s a good idea to have the alignment checked every year.

The quick answer is yes, the safe and best answer is no. First there can be a number of reasons your A/C system is not cold, yes it may be low on refrigerant but there may be a control problem, refrigerant doesn’t evaporate so if the system is low it had to leak somewhere you may just be throwing your money away. Today’s A/C systems require an exact amount of refrigerant to operate properly you have no way of knowing how much you are adding and over charging the system can cause very expensive damage.
