This time of year we get that complaint many times, it’s just really hot outside the in-car temps can be 125 degrees, or more, when you walk out and turn the a/c on it takes a while to cool the interior of you car down even when the system is working 100%. If the system is not working 100% it just won’t get the job done. Each year you should have the system checked and serviced to be sure it’s full and the cabin filter is clean, that’s the best way to keep cool on these hot summer days.

Yes ,if the cracks are bad enough you should replace the tires. Down here in Florida with all the heat we see cracking or dry rot on the side walls of tires often. If the cracking is bad enough it can led to a tire failure and leave you stranded on the side of the road or worse. Your service center will always check your tires at each service.

You would think it would be fine to do this and it is as long as you follow the directions on the bottle. More is not always better, if you add to much solvent it turns into a sludge that clogs the complete washer system, usually damages the pump and you end up replacing the pump and flushing the lines. So yes use it but follow the directions.

One thing that is very common would be whats called cupped tires, this can happen from low air pressure, misalignment,or a lack of rotating the tires at the proper time. Unfortunately once this starts it’s very hard to correct and ultimately you will have to replace the tires. That’s one reason why it’s so important to have an alignment check each year.

You could have a noise between the brake pad and rotor, this happens many times if the brakes were replaced and the rotors were not resurfaced. If this is the case you may need to redo the complete job correctly to fix it. The other common reason is that the brakes are worn out, most brake pads have a sensor built into them to make noise when the brake are worn out. Many cars today have electronic sensor that will let you know on the dash when the brakes are thin.

Most of the time when we get this complaint the problem will be an engine miss fire. This will make the engine light flash and make the engine very rough running. It’s important to get this repaired as soon as you can because the miss fire can cause other problems and make more expensive to fix.

Yes it could be a battery getting ready to fail, as soon as you hear a different sound then you are used to you should get into your local service center for a battery, alternator, and starter check. Before you are stuck on the road.

We had a question from yesterdays post, a customer asked about a timing chain not a timing belt and when a chain needed replaced. Well there is no real maintenance on timing chains they last the life of the engine in most cases. There have been times when the timing chain guides have worn out causing noise in the front of the engine, in this case you would need to replace all the timing components including the chain.

Timing belts do have a working lifetime limit and there is a recommended service time by the manufacture. You can check your owner’s manual for the service interval. This can be one of the most important maintenance items you do, If the timing belt breaks it can cause major engine damage and there you are stuck on the side of the road where no one wants to be.
