Why would my power steering not work at idle?

Most of the time when this happens you have a power steering pump problem, the pump can’t generate enough pressure at low speed, as the engine speeds up the pump spins faster and begins to work. The pump will have to be replaced to fix this problem.  This is another reason it’s important to flush your p/s system, the flush will remove all the debris that builds in the fluid, this will protect the pump from damage.
