There are two ways that light will be on steady or flashing. If it’s on steady you need to get in as soon as you can so we can diagnosis the issue, but it’s usually not a rush. If the light is flashing it needs to be checked now. Many time this can be a miss fire which can cause expensive repair issues in the exhaust, catalytic converters as well as other things, so if it’s flashing get in right away.

Most of the time this will be a shock or strut issue. As the shocks and struts begin to fail the cars ride begins to deteriorate and eventually your car will become unstable and feel soft or spongy and harder to control . Some manufactures recommend replacement at 75,000 miles, and for sure by 100,000 miles they should be replaced.

Most of the time the window regulator cable breaks and the window just drops into the door. The only way to repair this is to replace the regulator, most of the time the regulator comes with a new motor which is a good idea, because we will have to remove the door panel to get to the regulator, in many cases this is labor intensive so you don’t want to have to go back a year later to replace the motor.

“No” most cars don’t have a scheduled timing chain replacement, there can be reasons to replace the timing chain, they do stretch and will at times make noise your mechanic will let you know if there is any need to replace it. Most cars today have timing belts and they do have a scheduled time for replacement, check with your mechanic or your owners manual.

Jump starting cars today can cause more problems then they fix. Today’s cars have many control modules that operate the different systems in your car including the cranking system. Many times a very low voltage condition can damage one of the control modules as well as a voltage spike when you are jumping the car. Great care must be taken to be sure you have good connections, positive to positive and negative to the engine block is the best way. And doing this is no guarantee you won’t damage a control module.
