Why is my car so hot after I drive?

As long as all the gauges look normal the chances are it’s just normal heat. the normal operating temperature for most cars is around 218 degrees, so if you lift the hood after a bit of driving it will be hot. But a good thing to do is after the engine has cooled down make sure the cooling system is full. You must be sure the engine has cooled before checking, in fact let it cool down overnight and check it before you start up in the morning. Many people have been badly burned checking the coolant before the engine was cooled down.

Why are my tires wearing more in the center than on the edges?

As long as someone has not changed the wheels and tires to a different size then what should be on the car, there really is only one reason for the tires to wear in the center, too much air pressure.  if you over inflate the tire the center gets harder and wears at a faster rate. Proper air pressure is very important for good tire wear.

How often do I need to replace the fuel filter in my car?

In your owners maintenance guide it will give you an interval for replacing the filter but every 30,000 miles is a good standard for fuel filter replacement. Today’s engines are fuel injected these injectors can become clogged and cause all kinds of problems so keeping up with fuel system service is very important.

My A/C fan only operates on high speed, what could be wrong?

Many times this will be caused by a bad a/c blower resistor, this is what controls the voltage going to the fan motor to control speeds. Your service center may find that the reason the resistor is bad is the fan motor is drawing to much current and this damages the resistor so you may have to replace the fan as well as the resistor.

There is a lot of corrosion on the top of my battery, what causes this?

This can be caused by a bad connection, but most of the time it’s the battery it self leaking acid through the seal around the post. If there’s corrosion there and you clean it and it comes right back you can bet it’s time to replace that battery. More importantly there is the potential for an explosion if there are fumes coming from the battery and you make a spark it will explode! you must use caution when working with a corroded battery

Why is my A/C in my car only cold on the Passengers side?

Many times when we have this problem we find that the system is a bit low on freon so it just won’t function as it should. Freon won’t evaporate so if the system is low we will need to run some tests to find out just where the leak is. The problem also may be in the control system under the dash, either way you will need to get to your service center to have things checked.
