Why are my tire monitors going bad?

Your tire monitor system works by sending a signal from each tire to a module under the dash, this module translates this info into tire pressure readings displayed on the dash board. The Module gets it’s power from the car battery, but each wheel sensor has a internal battery that cannot be replaced so when it gets low in about six or seven years you have to replace the entire sensor.

Why would my steering wheel shake left then right at low speeds?

Most of the time this is a bad or separated tire. This is a very dangerous condition, the tire is beginning  to come apart and can deflate at any time as well the tread can come completely off the tire, at high speed this can make you lose control of your car. If you feel this condition please get to a service center as soon as possible.

Do I need to replace the water pump when I do a timing belt?

Not always, but if the timing belt drives the water pump then you would be wise to replace it while you are there. There is a lot of labor involved with replacing the timing belt and when we are doing so it only takes a little longer to replace the water pump so you just have the cost of the pump, the chance that the water pump will last as long as your new timing belt is slim.

My battery light is o, do I need to replace my battery?

You may need a battery but most of the time when the battery light is on the problem is in the alternator. You will need to get your car into the shop and have it tested, we can determine whether it’s the alternator or the battery. In the {old days} back yard mechanics would take the battery cable off while the engine is running, if it kept running they would say the alternator was good. Please don’t remove a battery cable on a modern car you stand a chance of damaging one or more modules and turning a simple job into a big expensive one.

How long can I keep my car going?

SHOP FRONTYou may have noticed you don’t see to many cars broken down on the side of the road, not as many as we used to see. Cars today are much more reliable. A car today will last 200 to 300 thousand miles and more as long as you follow a maintenance schedule remember the dealer wants you to buy a new car every few years we want to help make your car last a long time so we may recommend a few more services to keep things working for a long time. It’s always less expensive to maintain then to repair or replace.

Why won’t my transmission shift?

Many times when the transmission won’t shift it is locked in whats called limp mode. This is where your car senses a problem and so you don’t get stuck on the road the transmission locks into limp mode to get you to the nearest service center. There are other things that can make the transmission not shift but this is the most common.
